Styrian delicacies

Styria has a wealth of tasty delicacies. Of the many regional products, its wines are arguably the best known. This region is Austria’s second largest and especially known for its white wines. Eight so-called Styrian wine roads run through the state which has more than 2000 wine-growers. In order to check out the Styrian wine region, it is advisable to explore along one of the these wine roads. Along these routes, you will also find many so-called Buschenschenken – wine taverns run by fruit or wine-growers which are by law permitted to serve proprietary new wines and a selection of food.

The Styrians love their local and often organically-grown produce and are happy to serve it to their guests.
Pumpkin seed oil is another authentic Styrian delicacy. Oil pumpkin is also cultivated in other regions, but the bulk of the harvest comes from Styria. This exceedingly aromatic oil has a wide range of uses in cuisine and can refine any dish from starters to desserts.
